On the other hand, the Kingdom of Morocco ranks 6th in the ranking of exporters by volume, i.e. 51,000 tonnes, just after Mexico (508,000 tonnes), Spain, New Zealand, the United States and Turkey (67,000 tonnes), according to the American research firm IndexBox reported by Le Matin -a Swiss newspaper- in its daily edition.
“The global market reaches $22.6 billion in 2018,” the firm says. The average export price was $939 per tonne, an increase of 1.5% over a year.
The United States is the main importer with about 34% of global imports but collaborates mainly with Mexico due to its geographical proximity. China remains the largest consumer with 7.6 million tonnes per year.
